Tri-Tip Roast – The recipe
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Total time: 50 minutes
- 2 lbs. beef tri-tip
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish
For the dry rub:
- 1 ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp sweet paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- Rinse beef tri-tip under fresh water and pat dry using a paper towel.
- Add onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, sweet paprika, black pepper and salt in a small bowl, and mix well.
- Apply the seasoning to the beef and rub gently to make an even coating. Then leave to marinade for 60 minutes.
- Prepare oven and preheat to 400F.
- In the meanwhile, pour vegetables into a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add marinated tri-tip to the skillet and cook each side for 3 minutes until the color becomes brown.
- Then transfer to the preheated oven and roast for 20 to 30 minutes until internal temperature reaches 125F to 130F.
- Once cooked, remove from oven and place on the cutting board. Loosely cover with aluminum foil and leave to rest for 5 to 15 minutes.
- Then slice and serve with parsley garnishing on top.
Note: After marinade, you can cover the beef with plastic wrap and leave it in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours. But make sure to take it out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before you start cooking.
